THE FALL - 10 Top MUSTS this Coming Season
If you enjoy the warmth of a cable knit sweater and take comfort in a slice of pie, you may be the perfect person for this list. After years of research and hours of hard work, we have come up with “The Fall”. “The Fall” is a checklist of absolute MUSTS, giving you a hefty to-do list to tackle before the snow falls or the hay dries up (whichever comes first). We here at Maritime Mortgage have done everything on the list (except #4, we only made it through 6 of the 9 wine tastings) and we personally recommend them!
1) Vermont’s Route 100 is known as the best foliage route in New England according to the experts at Yankee Foliage. People come from all over to experience the vibrant colors and breathtaking views on Route 100. Take in the Route 100 on your way up to beautiful Stowe, VT for the rolling hills and incredible landscape.
2) Zip lining in New Hampshire is an amazing way to experience the Fall (pun most certainly intended). For those of you who aren’t into heights, now is the time to face them. You won’t want to miss the views from the canopy level. We recommend Alpine Adventures in Lincoln, NH or Mount Washington Resort’s Canopy Tour in Bretton Wood, NH. Both places offer courses over 1,000 ft. long, as high up as 225 feet, and as fast as 65 mph!
3) Breakfast and Apple Picking at Parker’s Maple Barn is an absolute must do. In the historic childhood home of the original Uncle Sam, you will have, considerably, the best pancakes and maple syrup. If they’re available, the maple-glazed doughnuts make for the perfect set of sticky fingers to glaze your freshly picked apples. Just an hour north of Boston, you’ll find Parker’s Maple Barn in Mason, NH.
4) Coastal Wine Trail starts in Westerly, Rhode Island and ends at a good time. Enjoy 170 miles of scenic route and the best grapes have to offer at 9 different wineries along the way. All wineries offer free tours and inexpensive tastings. Best Part? If you collect stamps from each wineries, you can enter to win a trip to Bermuda
5) King Richards Faire is open during weekends from August 30- October 19th. This 16th century outdoor Faire is a perfect way to enjoy the Fall season from centuries passed.
6) Harvest Hoedown is the place to be if you don’t have other Columbus Day plans. Right in the middle of October, gather up the family for farm fun. From apple & pumpkin picking to hay and pony rides, all the” small town” fun of New England is right on C.N. Smith Farm.
7) Topsfield Fair– From October 3 -13th visit the Topsfield Fair to be part of a New England tradition that’s been 114 years in the making. With exhibits, activities, rides, games, and food the Topsfield Fair offers the best of Fall fun!
8) Oktoberfest is an adult only event celebrating everything to love about beer! While the original Oktoberfest is located in Munich, you don’t need to fly to find one near you. In fact, there are over 14 different Oktoberfests planned this year throughout Massachusetts.
9) Corn Maze at Connors Farm is one of the best Mazes in New England. However, The 7 acre maze isn’t the only activity for you and the family. There are hay slides and jumps, live entertainment, pig races, pedal carts, corn tunnels, hay rides, and so much more! Pin Danvers on your map and head to Danvers this Fall.
10) Boo at the Zoo is a great family event where children are invited to trick or treat amongst the animals. Currently Stone Zoo and Buttonwood Park Zoo have posted dates in Mid-October. It’s an absolute must this Fall!
