Privacy Statement
Terms of Use
Maritime Savings Bank has always made keeping customers’ personal information private and secure a top priority. The Federal government has now enacted legislation that requires us to notify new customers of our privacy policy. This same legislation also requires us to notify existing customers of our policy at least yearly.
Maritime Savings Bank (MSB) protects your privacy and keeps your nonpublic personal information secure. We feel this is an important responsibility. We have in place physical, electronic, procedural and contractual safeguards that comply with Federal regulations to protect this information. We restrict access to customer information to those employees that require it to provide services and products to you. All employees are held to a standard which requires them to hold customer information in the strictest of confidence. Customer information, both physical and electronic form, is kept in secure areas. All customer information is destroyed before discarded.
We may collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources: Information we receive from you on applications and other forms; information from your transactions with us or others; and information we receive from consumer reporting agencies. Information obtained from the aforementioned sources includes such things as your name, address, social security number, telephone number, account balances, payment histories and maturity dates. We may disclose this to companies that perform services for us and to other nonaffiliated third parties that have a joint marketing agreement with us.
An example of companies that perform services for us are direct mailing companies that mail promotional material to you on our behalf. An example of a nonaffiliated third party that has a joint marketing agreement with us is one that offers nontraditional bank products. We have contracted with such a company and jointly market MSB products and nontraditional bank products to provide you with a wider range of service and product options. We may also disclose nonpublic personal information about you to other nonaffiliated third parties as permitted by law. Other nonaffiliated third parties that fall within this category are companies and entities we use in order to process, maintain and service accounts on your behalf and companies that are needed to act on loan applications.
Examples of such companies are our data processor who maintains our online accounts, calculates interest, produces statements and reports to the IRS; ATM companies; check printing companies; credit reporting agencies; title companies; appraisal companies and auditors. Who we actually share information with and what type of information shared depends on the type of account(s) you have with us.
Should you become a former MSB customer (i.e., you have no active accounts), information sharing will cease, except as permitted by law.
Keep in mind that we do NOT sell nonpublic personal information. We do NOT share nonpublic personal information with any nonaffiliated third party for its independent use. We only share information that is permitted by law to offer you our services and products and to administer your account(s).
